Poems of Solidarity for Haiti
Winning Poems Chosen

by Alice Lovelace, Armed with Art
and In Motion Magazine

We thank everyone who submitted their poems and writings as part of the 100 Poems of Solidarity for Haiti contest.

We didn't get 100 poems, but are grateful for those we did receive.

Because we had four judges, we had to go through several rounds of reading and voting to come up with our finalists. This was very hard work and took longer than we anticipated. Why? Because so many great poems were submitted.

Here are the winner and finalists:

1st Place: Sharecropper's Pantoum by M. Ayodele Heath (click here to read this poem)

2nd Place: Ayiti by April 'AP' Smith (click here to read this poem)

Honorable Mention:
Wings Soaked in Molasses by Darnell Fine

Haiti, after Pat Robertson by Karen Garrbrant

Everybody Running, Saying Jesus by Jenny D'Angelo

Tomorrow's Toussaints by Kalamu ya Salaam
-- $200 is being donated for Haiti relief in M. Ayodele Heath's name.

-- All poems listed above are being featured and the poets will be interviewed for In Motion Magazine/Art Changes. Coming soon!

-- All poems submitted will be part of a downloadable anthology (as a PDF). Proceeds from the anthology will be donated to Haitian relief. Coming soon!
